The Animal Control Unit operates Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for calls for service. After hours services are provided in cases deemed as emergencies only. Animal Control can be reached by calling the Sheriff's Office at (804) 966-9500. If you have an actual emergency involving an animal, please call 911. The Animal Shelter is staffed with a kennel attendant who handles adoptions and assists citizens. Shelter operation hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the shelter is located at 6301 Olivet Church Road.  We also recommend visiting the shelter as often as possible (in addition to monitoring the website) until you locate your pet.
