Available Records & Statements
New Kent County Circuit Court houses permanent land records dating from September 1864, marriage licenses from 1858, and probate records from September 1864. Civil and criminal cases, judgments, and financing statements are also available to the public in person. Some information regarding civil and criminal cases may be available via the Supreme Court of Virginia. As well, information regarding our land records may be available through the Commissioner of Revenue or Vision Government Solutions.
Obtaining Copies
Copies are $.50 per page with an additional $2.00 per certification. We do not fax copies. You may send a written request with a specific book and page reference, payment, and a self addressed stamped envelope and we will mail the copies you request. Our records are available to the public and we can help you search if you come to our office in person. The circuit court staff does not act as a title searcher and does not perform searches, but we will assist you in any way that we can.
Legal Resources
Available forms are provided through the Supreme Court of Virginia. Forms are not typically used in circuit court and if you have questions legal advice needs to be sought, but the clerk’s office cannot recommend an attorney. Resources are available to help you obtain an attorney.
